There are endless possibilities when it comes to choosing a restaurant in London, so we hope our list of recommendations will give you some ideas on where to stop next. Here are some of the restaurants we’ve been trying in the last year or so, places we’d be happy to return to.
Mele e Pere – modern trattoria in Soho, serving Italian food.
Bocca di Lupo, Soho – authentic italian dining, serving dishes from all over Italy. Always full, make sure you book a table well in advance.
And if you fancy a gelato after, just cross the street to Gelupo, for probably the best gelato in London.
The Duck and Rice, Soho – go here if you’re craving for good chinese, especially the pekin duck.
Ostuni, Queen’s Park – lovely Italian restaurant, serving delicious Puglian dishes.
Maggie Jones’s, Kensington – cosy and romantic restaurant, themed like an old barn, serving classic dishes, beautifully cooked.
We’ve been at Tapa Room, Marylebone, once for brunch and we were delighted with their Turkish eggs (two poached eggs on whipped yoghurt, hot Aleppo chilli butte toasted sourdough or seeded granary bread) and the Grilled chorizo (sweet potato miso hash, a soft boiled egg, garlic labne, star anise cashew nut praline). Both delicious!
The Harwood Arms, in Fulham – the only pub with a Michelin star in London. Check our dedicated post here

Lyle’s, Shoreditch – casual michelin star dining in London. We absolutely loved the place. Read more about our experience here.
The Shed, Notting Hill – for those craving for some delicious tapas, this our favourite restaurant in London. Must try: the chorizo and the lamb chips. Dedicated post on this.
Luca – lovely Italian restaurant in London, somewhere in Clerkenwell. Don’t miss here the parmesan fries. Curious to see more photos? Check this out.

Hide restaurant at Green Park, 1 Michelin star
Original & amazing concept – 3 different places under the same roof. Above – sophisticated & tranquil, with views over Green Park, serving a set menu for lunch & tasting menu for both lunch & dinner. Ground – is the heart of the restaurant, ‘providing nourishment and comfort’, as they would describe it. This is where they serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea & dinner, in a nutshell this place is perfect for any time of the day. They do have a generous a la carte menu. Last to come is Below, the basement bar, where you can sip from a cocktail in a beautiful ambience.
We were there on a Sunday for lunch at Hide Above, opting for the lovely lunch set menu. Beautiful culinary experience, a bit rushed maybe (or at least this was my impression), but we definitely enjoyed every bit of it.
Opso, a greek restaurant in Marylebone. Great food, twisted dishes in a charming, but cozy place. You might wanna try: the Koulouri & Milk Curd, the Opso Ceviche, the Feta Saganaki, Tigania or Ladenia ‘Pizza’.
Jose Pizzaro, Spanish restaurant in Bermondsey. You might wanna try: the Snapery sourdough & José Pizarro olive oil, Butifarra negra & pulpo. Not to be missed: Padrón peppers, sea salt.
Strut & Cluck in Shoreditch, serving Eastern Mediterranean cuisine. We loved it, so you might want to try it.
Pidgin, restaurant in Hackney, East London, serving a set 4 course menu (wine pairing can also be an option) which changes every week and interestingly, no dish is repeated. It’s a tiny cozy place with just a handful of tables.
Passo, another Italian place we love in Shoreditch for their twisted, delicious Italian dishes.
We also love them, because they brought Nancy Silverton, one of America’s most influential chefs, to host dinner at Passo. If you’re Chef’s Table addicted, you definitely know what I’m talking about. And obviously we couldn’t miss such an opportunity.

The Watch House, 3 locations in London, so easy to find. Funny enough they serve Ozone coffee 🙂
