In the previous article I promised to come back with my list of Tried & Tested places in Stockholm when it comes to eat & drink. Because in the end the culinary experience is an important aspect when visiting a new place, right?
If it happens to get hungry while wandering in Gamla Stan (the old city part of Stockholm) I can recommend you 2 nice places.
Stockholms Gastabud restaurant, looks rather traditional, simple & cozy, no fancy place, but somehow hidden so that you don’t end up in the noisy & crowded streets. It’s the perfect place tro try some traditional dishes. I strongly recommend to try here the traditional meatballs with mashed potatoes and the fish soup. We had a good time at this restaurant, the staff is nice & friendly and the food extremely tasty. Don’t hesitate to stop by if around!
Cultur is another restaurant we have tried and I equally liked it. It’s more modern, with beautiful interior & a small terrace. We’ve tried the salmon salad & the mussels, both tasty & nice. And the bread with olive oil, OMG, delicious!
Oaxen Krog & Slip was by far my favourite restaurant in Stockholm, you can also notice it from the number of photos:) simply I couldn’t choose what to share with you, you need to see everything, both the food & the decorations!
Situated near the water, on the DjurgÃ¥rden island, is the perfect spot to stop by after the Vasa museum or Skansen museum visit. All of these places are close to each other (including ABBA museum, for the fans), so you can plan all together. We’ve tried the Swedish beef sirloin steak with herb butter & the Ox sausage, which came together with the new potatoes with butter & herbs. One word to say here: DELICIOUS. Different taste vs what I was used too, but veery very tasty and extremely good. And because I couldn’t help myself, I’ve tried the Stirred, raw blueberries with almond cake, browned butter & vanilla ice cream and a delicious cappuccino. Everything was perfect, so I hope that one day I’ll have the chance to go back.
Kott & Fiskbaren is another nice restaurant, with meat & fish specific, situated in the Noormalm area. We enjoyed here the famous Moules Frites & a lamb dish with mashed potatoes, both of them extremely good. Nice atmosphere & friendly staff.
Now let’s talk a bit about the most important meal of the day – BREAKFAST. In Sweden I found breakfast a bit different vs the countries I’ve been to. It’s popular for them to have sandwiches (cold or hot ones), boiled eggs & some salads, followed by a coffee & something sweets. There are lot vegan & organic food places, which I loved.
My top place for breakfast was Cafe Pascal – delicious sweets & good coffee are the first reasons to love this place. The atmosphere here, more locals than tourists, the place itself & the staff are the ingredients for a perfect morning.
Other places for breakfast I’ve tried are in Sodermalm – Il Cafe & Urban Deli.
And to make your afternoon nicer, either you stop by for an organic icecream at Stikkinikki or you grab a freshly squeezed juice at Juiceverket.
Hope that you will enjoy it! For more information don’t hesitate to contact us; we are more than happy to help!
