Budapest’s Mak – much more than Bistro

Last evening I’ve been for the 5th time to Mak Bistro, by far one of my favourites places in Budapest and the Chef managed again to surprise and to delight me.

If you love eating and you want to transform an ordinary meal in something extraordinary, this is the place to go. Simple, but lovely decor, impeccable service, luscious food & good Hungarian wine.

The mix of ingredients, the smells, the colours, the attention to every detail when arranging each of the elements on the plate & the way the food is reinvented. These are only some of the reasons I enjoy so much this place.

Looking in the menu, at the first glance you may say that there is nothing to accommodate your tastes, but believe me that each & every course is much tasteful than it sounds on paper. The Chef gives a different interpretation to apparently banal dishes so that you enjoy every bite.

What I like the most is the idea of changing the menu every month, so that every time you go back you can enjoy something different. Simply you cannot get bored!

If you want to try something different or maybe you are not decided what to order from the A la carte menu, they are also offering you a 6 courses menu (2 options) with/without the wine pairing depending on your mood. One of the 6 dishes is the Chef surprise – who doesn’t love to be surprised?

I said attention to details? Definitely yes! An amuse bouche on the house is served at the beginning of the meal, not to forget about the crunchy tasty bread with butter. I told you I love this place.

No matter what you choose, keep some room for dessert. I’ve tried the Poppy seed parfait with raspberry and it was yummy + the Chef surprise at the end for post dessert.

The staff is friendly & smiling all the time, careful & attentive so that you enjoy every moment spent there.

Definitely a place to go for the food lovers when in Budapest!
