Luca restaurant, an Italian in London

It’s been more than one year since we live in London, and yet no restaurant recommended to you guys. But, here we are, sharing you with the amazing experience we’ve had this Saturday at Luca. One of the many more to come I hope!

Italian cuisine is our favourite by far so I was looking for a place to go and enjoy a glass of wine and some nice pasta. After doing a bit of research, we came across Luca, an Italian restaurant located somewhere in Clerkenwell. Beautiful setting, tempting menu (literally I could choose anything and I’d have been really happy with my decision), ‘good looking’ food and a well thought, creative motto ‘British seasonal ingredients through an Italian lens’, all of these convinced me to book a table for Saturday lunch.

I found the menu to be very much inspired by Piemonte, the beautiful region in North West of Italy, well known for its Nebbiolo wine, truffles and hazelnuts.

Don’t know about you guys, but for me there’s nothing better to start your meal with than sourdough bread with olive oil. Everything on the menu was so tempting, it took us a while to decide what to have. We went for the tartare of Hereford beef in Nebbiolo and the roast Orkney scallops wrapped in pancetta as starters, followed by the Truffle  agnolotti with hazelnut and lemon butter and the Spaghettini with braised octopus, accompanied by a glass of Roero Arneis (if you fancy white wine) or Dolcetto (if you’re more into red). Our favourite: the truffle pasta, an explosion of tastes and aromas!

There’s no proper meal without dessert and proud of myself to follow the motto this time, as their Tiramisu is just delicious, probably one of the best I’ve ever had.

We’ve had such a great experience and we definitely recommend you to give it a try. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Booking is recommended.

Next for us on the list is the Clove Club restaurant, ran by the same gang!  Very curious to try one of the best 50s restaurants in the world.
