In France the concept of ‘maison d’hotes’ is very popular, similar to a B&B, but where you share the house with the host.

Before traveling to a new place, I spend hours looking for the perfect place, well located at an affordable price. Hard to find, but not impossible. All you need is patience, some good websites where to make the research & a good internet connection.

It was the same when going to Provence. I went there for a weekend in the idea of seeing the colourful & scented lavender fields & I wanted the perfect place.

Villa de Lorgues is located in a lovely small & peaceful city, called Lorgues. Right in the middle of Provence, this place is ideal if you want to avoid the crowd, but to easily access everything around, both sightseeing & seaside.

It has 5 unique decorated rooms, with prices between 140-190eur/night, depending on the season & on the room you choose. The breakfast is served in the garden and the timing is flexible, depending on you and the other guests in the house.

Claudie is an amazing host, friendly, who would do anything to make you feel like home.

It’s one hour away by car from the charming & lively Aix-en-Provence, posh Saint-Tropez or high class Cannes. Other recommendations for visiting around can be Marseille (nothing much to see except the old port area & the Notre Dame de la Garde cathedral), Cassis & Route des Cretes (both at the seaside), Tourtour, Gorge du Verdon  & of course the lavender fields.

Make sure you check the periods when the lavender is in blossom (depends by region) so that you will not be disappointed.
